Hélio Oiticica Municipal Arts Center

Founded in 1996, the Hélio Oiticica Municipal Arts Center housed, until 2009, part of the art collection of Hélio Oiticica, painter, sculptor, and visual and performance artist. As well as hosting activities related to the collection, Brazilian and international art expositions were presented in the space. The building was constructed in 1872 to be the headquarters of the National Music Conservatory. In 1890, it was expanded under the direction of the Italian architect, Sante Bucciarelli, who made this drawing. Currently, the space hosts temporary exhibitions, lectures, seminars, courses, and research projects.
