The Museum of Tomorrow

A major symbol of the revitalization of the Port Region in Rio de Janeiro, the Museum of Tomorrow, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, was inaugurated by Rio City Hall on December 19th, 2015. The total cost of the Museum was R$300 million, and was managed by the Roberto Marinho Foundation, of Grupo Globo.

It is a science museum which explores six themes: climate change; biodiversity shifts; population growth and longevity; greater integration and culture variation; technological advancement, and the expansion of knowledge.

The Rio City Hall initiative under the Eduardo Paes administration (2008-2016), had the Spanish Santander bank as its Master Sponsor. It also relied on BG Brasil for its patronage as well as the support of the State Government, through the State Secretary of the Environment, and the Federal Government, through the Financer of Studies and Projects (FINEP).
